Inaugural SUSTENET Webinar: Advancing Sustainable Thermoelectric Materials through AI

28th April 2026, 11:30-13:30 CEST (on MicroSoft Teams)

This inaugural webinar of the COST Action SUSTENET represents an important milestone in the creation of a dynamic, interdisciplinary community devoted to the advancement of sustainable thermoelectric technologies.

Organized by Working Group 1, which focuses on the application of artificial intelligence to accelerate materials discovery and enhance system efficiency, the webinar highlights the transformative role of computational approaches in this rapidly evolving field.

The session brings together researchers working at the intersection of materials science, data science, and thermoelectrics, with a particular emphasis on how modern computational tools can enable the design and discovery of high‑performance, earth‑abundant thermoelectric materials.

We are pleased to welcome two distinguished speakers:

  • Keith Butler (University College London, UK), presenting “Learning the Language of Crystal Chemistry: How Methods from Natural Language Processing Can Help Discover New Materials”
  • Philippe Jund (Université de Montpellier, France), presenting “Machine Learning Strategies for the Accelerated Discovery of Efficient Half‑Heusler Thermoelectric Materials”

Together, their contributions will provide insight into state‑of‑the‑art machine learning methodologies and their impact on computational materials discovery.

Participation is free, but registration is required!
